CityLife is holding a Human Trafficking Forum on Thursday November 29th. 7:30pm in the Holland Room, Knox Campus. This forum as part of our church’s response to Abolitionist Sunday on November 25th. Abolitionist Sunday is an annual day when churches continue the fight to end human trafficking and slavery.
Human Trafficking is a serious criminal offense and a billion dollar criminal industry; the UN estimates it at $32 billion annually. Children and women account for 80% of the people who are trafficked into fishing boats, construction sites, farms and in factories, brothels and private homes.
Psalm 89:14 Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; love and faithfulness go before you.
Many people are concerned about this issue but unsure about how to respond. The aim of this forum is to come together to Learn, Pray, Give and Go! We will hear from Andy Naylor, who will present a biblical perspective on slavery and guest speaker Mark Zirnsak will inform us of the issue within an Australian context. For those who want to get involved, we will also provide information about a range of volunteer opportunities you can get involved in, including the World Impact Cambodia trip in 2013. So come along and bring along a friend. To register your attendance for the forum, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or call Jacqui on (03) 9871 8900.
